Back to School Blog Hop

Welcome to our team blog hop.  This month we wanted to celebrate back to school by doing a little teaching of our own.  Each consultant in this blog hop will be sharing some of their stamping/crafting knowledge with you.  You don't want to miss any of this fun learning, so make sure you get a chance to visit everyone's "blog classroom".

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop.  If you came from Darcel's Blog  then you are in the right place!  from here you can hop on over to  Michelle's Blog to learn how to make a shaker card.

The technique that I wanted to share with you is using random stamping to create your own pattern paper.

I love doing this technique - it creates patterned paper that is completely unique to your layout or card.  And it really is easy - the trick is not to over-think it (it is not supposed to be perfect).

Here is a picture of  a two page scrapbook layout using the stamped pattern paper, along with some of the great papers from the new Seaside Collection.

I stared by gathering the ink colours that are suggested to co-ordinate with the Seaside Paper Pack and Champagne Cardstock as my background.  For this project I picked the new Treasured Friendship stamp set (C1594)

When random stamping, it is best to always start with the largest stamps first and fill in spaces with the smaller images as you go.

I started with the Dessert Sand Ink and one of the larger shell stamps.

Stamps should be randomly placed around the page. Keeping a triangular shape in mind can sometimes help with the spacing.
Here is the page with the first stamped image completed.

Next I used the Champagne ink with another of the large shell stamps.

I then used the Sorbet and Glacier Ink with the two small shell stamps to fill in most rest of the background.

I felt that I still had a little more cardstock showing than I would like.  I needed an even smaller stamp to complete the page.

I dug through my stash and found these cute little footprints in the retired Surf's Up Scrapbooking Workshop stamp set.  The little feet were just the right size.  I used all of the ink colours with the footprint stamp and did a second generation stamp (stamping off some of the ink on scrap paper before stamping on project).
Now you have a completely unique piece of patterned paper -
DESIGNED BY YOU!

I hope you will try this technique - pick a stamp set and some ink colours you love and give it a try.  You really will be surprised how easy and addictive this is!

The New Annual Inspirations Idea Book is 193 pages packed with great new products. There are so many great new papers and products I can't wait to share with you that it was difficult to decide where to start.  So I let my daughter pick, and she asked me to do a birthday page for her.

Confetti Wishes is one of the 9 new paper packs available.  The colours are vibrant and fun to work with.  I kept the layout simple using the Confetti Wishes paper pack and the matching Complements sticker sheet, I added one sheet of pear cardstock, and used the purple Shimmer Trim and the Purple Glitter Gems.  I did just a bit of stamping using the new Thistle ink colour on the pear cardstock.

Using the Close to My Heart Paper Packs with the matching Stickers or Embellishments makes scrapbooking faster, easier, and lots of fun!

The Countdown is on!

At our house - the countdown to Christmas Eve actually started sometime near the end of September.  Each morning my girls changed the sign they made for our fridge that would update the number of days to Halloween and the number of days to Christmas Eve.

Now that we are into December, as well as updating the sign on the fridge, they get to open one drawer in their Advent Calendar box each day.

I am very happy with how the Calendar turned out, and I think it took me almost as long to fill it up for them as it did to make it, but both tasks were a lot of fun!

I used the Sparkle and Shine papers and the Countdown Stamps both from the Holiday from the Heart Gift Guide

I have filled my boxes with some different treats for the girls:  earrings, pretty hair things, nail polish, some candies and gum and other goodies.

The great thing about this calendar is that it can be personalized for anyone.  The boxes are 2 1/2 " square so there is lots of room for all kinds of things:

Fisher Price Little People
Tea Bags
K Cups
Bath Salts
Candles
Homemade cookies & squares
Golf Balls and Tees
Fishing Lures
Hot Wheels

If you are interested in starting a new family tradition with one of these fun calendars.  Contact me and we can order everything you need, to have it all ready for next year.

Cheers,

Heather

New Idea Book Blog Hop - Great New Papers and Products

To celebrate the new Close to My Heart Idea Book released today - our consultant team ( The Brae-er's) is participating in a blog hop to show off some of the great new products you will find in the Autumn/Winter Idea Book.

If you have come from Brae's blog you are on the right track.  Take a look at my artwork and then hop on over to  Rosalynd Kelly's blog.

Heather's Artwork - using the new "Sarita" papers and textiles.

I love all of the featured paper packs in the new idea book.  I can't wait to get busy creating with all of them.

I chose the Sarita paper pack to work with first.  I was inspired by a summer outfit that I saw someone wearing last week that reminded me of some of the paper in the Sarita collection.

Here is the first layout that I have done with these new papers:

As well as the papers that are included in the paper pack I also used some cotton candy cardstock. To embellish the pages I used the matching Sarita Textiles, Hollyhock Zipper Lace, some of the new Base and Bling metal embellishments, as well as my new favorite embellishment set the Rosewood Mini-Medley Accent Collection.

Your next stop on our Team Blog Hop is Rosalynd Kelly's blog.  Make sure you check out here artwork using the new Babycakes papers from Close to My Heart.

Below is some of the artwork created by the Close to My Heart designers using the Sarita paper pack as well.  These versatile papers can create many different looks, I hope you will have as much fun with them as I have been having.

I love Pintrest and find lots of inspiration for card, layouts, and lots of fun stuff.  Here is a card I found on pintrest a few months ago, and I just loved it.  The card was pinned from the Split Coast Stampers website.

Instead of creating the same card, I decided to scraplift the design for a one page layout - I hope you like it.
